PLODDINGHAM

A little bit of this, a little bit of that, a little at a time.

Ploddingham is a place where I refine and share my hits and misses as a Christian, a husband, and a father. I’m not a professor or a pastor. Read me as a fellow traveller whose ideas need to be tested against Scripture, the authorities you know and trust, and the wisdom of the centuries. I’m convinced that you and I, the church, and the world, all need the same thing: more Christ. If the ideas here help you to make progress in this I will be delighted. Ploddingham is a reminder that as long as the leaven leavens the whole lump, it doesn’t matter if it takes a little while. All things will be summed up in Christ.

A little bit of this, a little bit of that, a little at a time.

Eight years later we are nine years into marriage, three children into family, and thankful to God for much grace and provision as we say

I had made the painful journey through the initial stages of a biblical self-understanding. I was a sinner hiding in plain sight under the gaze of a holy and righteous God.

Big Person Little Body

Driving home from school today my son announced to me unsolicited: “I love you, dada.” I searched for a follow-up question to keep him talking. But before I found one he doubled down: “Yeh, I care about you a lot.” He had reasons. I was thoroughly bested and could only return the friendly fire. It reminded me of something important that I struggle to hold
